present «The Painted Lady».

Elvira Werkman, author, historian and journalist has produced a book on THE butterfly of all butterflies. This book is illustrated by Maxime Beck.
“The Painted Lady – Een vlucht Distelvlinders weighs one and a half grams, has a brain the size of a pinhead and flies more than 4,000 kilometers each autumn, from Europe to the tropical African savannah. Or from Canada to the Mexican deserts. In the spring, the offspring flies back to the north. An endless cycle on almost every continent.
The discoveries made by researchers and artists over the centuries give us a glimpse into the fascinating life of this world traveler. How does he know the way? Why does he travel? And what does he do in winter? The answers can be found in our book, a little ode to this very special butterfly.” - Elvira Werkman

A new book full of surprises about the relationships between birds, which sometimes remind us of those between humans..., sometimes full of attention, simple, amusing, sometimes complex, curious and unexpected.
This book in Dutch version, as richly documented as it is accessible to all, reminds us once again of the importance of considering all living species, of trying and taking the time to understand them better and sometimes to be inspired by them too.

It is a great pleasure to once again be part of a project initiated by Elvira Werkman.
Nature is full of beauty and so inspiring !
